　昨今、大統領の就任演説に関する訳本がいろいろな形で出版されていますが、ここでは、このブログでも紹介したSIM(同時通訳方式）訳をつけて、英文を前から速読速解することを目的に、さらに、より原文に忠実に理解することを目的にして全文を紹介します。キング牧師の"I have a dream"全文を9回に分けて紹介します。

　速読速解の実力をつけるには、一度読んだ文章を繰り返しSIM朗読（/で区切ったところまでを読み、SIM訳を頭の中でつけてゆく読み方）してください。文章を前に戻らず前から順に理解しながら読む訓練が、英文の構成能力につながります。ちなみに区切り方は、自分の理解しやすい長さで区切ればよく、決まった区切り方はありません。慣れると区切りの箇所が減る傾向があります。

When the architects of our republic wrote/ the magnificent
words/ of the Constitution/ and the Declaration of
Independence,/ they were signing/ a promissory note/
to which/ every American was to fall heir.
わが国の建設者たちが書いた時/素晴らしい言葉を/憲法の/そして独立宣言の/彼らは署名していたのです/約束手形に/その手形に対して/全てのアメリカ人が受取人になるはずでした

This note was a promise/ that all men,/ yes,/ black men
as well as white men,/ would be guaranteed/ the
inalienable rights/ of "Life,/ Liberty,/
and the pursuit of Happiness."
この手形は約束だったのです/つまり全ての人が/勿論/白人同様黒人も/保証されるという/奪われることのない権利を/生と/自由と/幸福追求の

It is obvious today/ that America has defaulted/ on this
promissory note/ insofar as her citizens of colour are
concerned.
今日、明白なことです/アメリカが義務を怠ってきたことは/この約束手形について/有色の国民に関する限り

Instead of honouring this sacred obligation,/ America has
given the Negro people/ a bad check:/ a check which has
come back/ marked,/ "insufficient funds."
この聖なる義務を履行する代わりに/アメリカは黒人に与えてきたのです/不良小切手を/戻ってきた小切手を/判をおされて/不十分な資金（不渡り手形）と

But we refuse to believe/ that/ the bank of justice is
bankrupt.

We refuse to believe/ that there are insufficient funds/
in the great vaults/ of opportunity/ of this nation.

So we've come/ to cash this check/ : a check that will give
us/ upon demand/ the riches of freedom and the security of
justice.

We have also come/ to this hallowed spot/ to remind
America/ of the fierce urgency of now.

This is no time to engage/ in the luxury of cooling off/
or to take the tranquilizing drug/ of gradualism.

Now is the time/ to make real/ the promises of democracy.

of segregation/ to the sunlit path/ of racial justice.

Now is the time/ to lift our nation/ from the quicksands/
of racial injustice/ to the solid rock/ of brotherhood.
今は時なのです/私たちの国家を引き上げる/流砂から/人種的公平の/堅固な岩へと/兄弟愛の

Now is the time/ to make justice a reality/
for all of God's children.
今は時なのです/公平を現実のものにする/すべての神の子のために
